We are often looking for full time and part time scientists to join our company developing new commercial natural products such as nutraceuticals, herbal medicines and exotic novel foods and their regulatory approval. We recruit chemists, biologists, phytochemists, pharmacognosists, ethnobotanists, health scientists, nutritionists, pharmacists, phytotherapists and other related disciplines.
The work involves researching the composition of food ingredients and medicinal agents such as exotic fruits, herbs, botanical medicines etc and assessing their safety and efficacy. Depending on your background, you will work on a variety of projects and will learn aspects of nutrition, phytochemistry, botany, quality control and pharmacology and plant insect molecular ecology, among other disciplines.
We work on new "cutting edge" ingredients for the food, herbal and pharmaceutical industries and love our work. We work with single entrepreneurs, start up companies, NGOs and multinationals from all over the world.
Our work has been recognised as original and highly innovative and we were awarded the prestigious global TOPRA award for innovation in regulatory affairs in 2017. Ideally you will have a love and passion for working with natural products and researching their safe and effective use by humans.
Our approach is based on researching history of use combined with 21st century science. The director of the company has 25 years in the field and was previously an academic in pharmacognosy and phytochemisty and under took his post doctoral research work with a Nobel prize winner in the USA. His colleague also works in the company as a senior scientist having studied in Brazil, Italy, Switzerland and the USA and speaks five languages fluently, bringing an international flavour to our global, award winning work. Her masters in social sciences also contributes to our pioneering research surveys on "history of use" combining the best research methods in ethnobotany and social sciences and leading the field on its application to the regulatory approval of herbal medicines and traditional foods.
We are a very research led organisation and you will be encouraged to publish scientific papers, articles and conference papers, where possible from your work.
The research is mainly desk research (but occasionally lab based) and for UK based staff, you would be expected to work "virtually" some or most of the time. We may also require you to visit our offices 1 - 2 days per week based in Essex and Berkshire.
Several positions are “globally virtual” in that you can be based anywhere in the world. For this position (part or full time) you will need to have meticulous attention to detail, and have excellent English language (written and spoken) skills. We are interested in candidates primarily from Asia, North and South America. The candidates can, in certain circumstances work from home, subject to confidentiality agreements, and providing they strictly adhere to the use of our sophisticated security protocols and other related "virtual procedures" we require for international (and local office based) workers.
We are often looking for graduates or PhDs but in some cases could also consider part time undergraduates.
